SEPTEMBER 2011 – APRIL 2012
While living in Ecuador, I interned at Kiwa, a brand of vegetable chips made from raw materials provided by small farmers in Ecuador. Kiwa chips are sold in countries across the globe, including France, Germany, Holland, Canada, Pakistan, Japan and the United States.
I oversaw the development of Kiwa’s social media properties, including Facebook and Twitter. I also created manuals for social media development in English and Spanish and taught the staff how to manage their Facebook page and engage with their social media community. I ran a Facebook ad campaign to help Kiwa reach their U.S. market, and increased their page likes from 300 to 7500 in two months. The KIWA page now has the largest Facebook fan base of any Ecuadorian food/beverage product.
I continued working as a freelance social media consultant for Kiwa between February – April 2012, maintaining their Facebook page and Twitter account.
We worked very hard to create a video for a Kickstarter campaign to encourage agritourism in Ecuador and increase awareness of Kiwa chips in the United States. The project never launched due to complications with international payments, but you can still check out the video below! And good news – Kiwa chips still received a warm welcome when they were launched in the U.S. in spring of 2012.
